As soon as I found out I was going to Marrakech, I knew I had to visit Kasbah Aït Benhaddou. You may be asking wtf is this? Well my friends, a kasbah is a gated city, typically built at foot of a hill and built up. This Kasbah is special as Aït Benhaddou is a UNESCO world heritage site. More importantly it is famously shot in Game of Thrones! Land of the Dothraki.
A few things when making a day trip to Aït Benhaddou
- Plan on traveling March through November, when passing through is High Atlas Mountains is still an option.
- Hire a driver or tour guide as the roads are pretty crazy
- Dress in layers as it goes from hot to cold to hot with the change in elevation
